Million Paws Walk

Posted on 18. May, 2012 by in Uncategorized

So it all started at 3.45am Sunday morning which reminded me of my old stablehand days and early starts. Sam, Mike and I headed off from Lake Macquarie to Homebush for the RSPCA Million Paws Walk, it was the first time any of us would be before the public as exhibitors and we we’re all pretty nervous…ok it was just me.

Of course the day was a great success, there was a lot of interest in my portraits and I had to do a bit of explaining throughout the day that “no, they’re not photos, they’re my pencil drawings”, which was met with looks of amazement as people looked at them. Lots of people signed up for my fan club wanting to be the first to get the latest in special offers, portrait collection updates and much, much more.

I got to meet great dog loving owners and not to forget all their furry friends that came with them. The dogs came in all shapes and sizes and some amazing coloured dogs out there and I would love to draw them all. Sam was adored by all of course and had her photo taken quite a few times while she rested (slept) inside the booth.

I think the greatest part of the day was having fans and their dogs come to see me and say hello. It was fantastic meeting you all and to hear the stories of your dogs and how much you love them really made my day. Not to forget that I got more dog rescue stories to be considered for my collection.

When the day ended I felt like a little kid leaving my first big birthday party, hyped with excitement and exhausted at the same time. Needless to say I slept well that night, dreaming of drawing the many unique coloured fur coats and textures and many beautiful expressions of dogs that I saw. I can hardly wait for my next big day out.
